The Taiwan Artificial Intelligence Government Talent Office was inaugurated July 22 in Taipei City as part of the administration’s efforts to accelerate digital transformation in the public sector.

Key TAIGTO officials convened their first meeting later the same day, the Executive Yuan’s Directorate-General of Personnel Administration said. The cross-ministerial office is a collaborative project of the DGPA and the Ministry of Digital Affairs.

DGPA Minister Su Chun-jung said that the office will integrate public resources to cultivate public service professionals’ AI skills and enable them to develop related applications to enhance administrative efficiency, offer more innovative services and optimize governance.

According to the DGPA, the office comprises three departments, each with specific goals: formulating talent cultivation promotion strategies, designing training materials and conducting skill certification, and assisting government agencies with the introduction of AI applications and development of general-purpose AI tools. It will also be involved in related AI initiatives of the MODA and the DGPA’s Civil Service Development Institute.

The MODA praised the office as a milestone in the government’s AI policymaking. By enhancing public servants’ AI literacy, the MODA expects that the office will establish an AI application model that can be duplicated and expanded to develop smarter public services. (SFC-E)
