Digital Minister Huang Yen-nun led a delegation to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Digital and AI Ministerial Meeting Aug. 4-6 in Incheon, South Korea, to deepen regional cooperation and advance Taiwan’s digital sector development.

According to the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Huang brought officials from 20 other APEC member economies up to speed on Taiwan’s measures to enhance digital connection for all and promote digital and AI innovations to address social and economic challenges. He cited the One Network, All People Included initiative as an example of the government working to ensure all members of the society can benefit fairly and safely from digital transformation.

Taiwan’s AI ecosystem is built on the three pillars of innovation promotion, security and trust, and social justice and equality, Huang said, stressing the importance of transparency and a multistakeholder approach to the process.

The MODA said meeting participants issued a joint statement to highlight key issues and call for cooperation to build a trusted, safe and sustainable digital ecosystem, a vision in line with the ministry’s goals of fighting online fraud, strengthening digital resilience and promoting the digital economy.

The minister also attended a forum organized by the South Korean government and World Bank on digital and AI topics, and Huang and the delegates also engaged in in-depth discussions with their counterparts on issues such as AI development, information and communications security, digital resilience and digital innovation.

Huang said Taiwan’s participation in the event demonstrated that the country is a trustworthy regional partner, and underscored the government’s commitment to deepening cross-border cooperation on AI, information security, data application and next-generation communications technologies. (SFC-E)
