Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung hosted a luncheon for a delegation led by St. Clair Leacock, deputy prime minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines as well as minister of national security, immigration and disaster management, March 18 in Taipei City.

Lin said that this year marked the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, adding that under the policy of integrated diplomacy, Taiwan continues to work with the Caribbean ally on agriculture, blue economy and tourism to benefit people on both sides through the Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project.

Leacock responded by first conveying greetings from Governor-General Stanley John and Prime Minister Godwin Friday. He said that the past 45 years have seen many fruitful collaborations, citing a hospital in Arnos Vale in southern St. Vincent that Taiwan helped build.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that Leacock said that St. Vincent anticipates deepening collaboration with Taiwan to provide additional premier medical services to its citizens as the hospital expands from acute to general care.

Also in attendance at the reception to exchange views with the delegates on smart medicine, youth empowerment and technical cooperation were Vincentian Ambassador Kenton Chance, Deputy Minister of Education Liu Kuo-wei, and Chang Wen-han, superintendent of Taipei City-headquartered Mackay Memorial Hospital, the MOFA reported.
