In his remarks, Lin thanked the chairs for their long-term support for Taiwan’s international participation and said that Colombia is a major trade partner in Latin America, adding that there is great potential for cooperation in digital innovation, green energy, smart agriculture and the arts.
In response, Giraldo said that he was glad to have the opportunity to learn more about Taiwan’s advancements in artificial intelligence, smart medicine and semiconductors. Londoño lauded Taiwan’s outstanding achievements in the operation of the national health insurance system.
According to the MOFA, both lawmakers said that Colombia and Taiwan should work to expand their partnership and emphasized that they would promote the establishment of an office in Taiwan to strengthen cultural, economic and trade ties.
The ministry said that the delegation is in Taiwan through Nov. 28. Their five-day itinerary included visits to the Legislative Yuan, International Cooperation and Development Fund and Taiwan External Trade Development Council in Taipei. (POC-E)
