The Council of Indigenous Peoples hosted the 2025 Global Youth Forum’s closing ceremony July 27 in the southern county of Pingtung, highlighting the agency’s commitment to empowering tribal youth to connect with global partners.

CIP Deputy Minister Adralriw Abaliusu presented certificates to a total of 38 young trainees from five local tribes and 12 foreign countries, the council noted, adding that multiple ambassadors or representatives to Taiwan from allies and like-minded partners were also in attendance.

Abaliusu said that the council would continue to implement President Lai Ching-te’s policies of cultivating professionals with cultural vision. He further pointed out that the forum focused on giving back to the community in addition to transmitting knowledge, explaining that some trainees would go back to Pingtung in August to collaborate with a local community development association and a primary school where they would deepen their sense of cultural identity and participate in public affairs.

According to the CIP, this year’s symposium encompassed diverse issues through workshops on digital innovation and cultural preservation, the tourism industry and economic development, international exchange and cultural arts, and climate action and community sustainability. Participants were also taken for on-site visits, where they gained insight into local Indigenous peoples’ lifestyles and culture, the council concluded. (POC-E)
