The Ministry of Culture announced Feb. 9 in Taipei City the seven troupes selected to perform at the 2026 Festival Off Avignon and Edinburgh Festival Fringe, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting the international outreach of local performing groups.

According to the ministry, 51 teams competed for spots at Festival Off Avignon, set for July 5-26 in the French city of Avignon, with four shortlisted and two placed on the waiting list. The selected troupes are Taipei City-based Dashing Theater, Taoyuan City-based Chun Dance, Hualien County-based Kuo-Shin Chung Pangcah Dance Theatre and Pingtung County-based Seed Dance.

This year marks the 13th edition of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe’s Taiwan Season. Of the 43 teams that entered the domestic preliminary round, four were chosen and one placed on the waiting list.

The selected groups for the Scottish festival, scheduled for Aug. 7-31, are Taipei City-based Good Terms Production and Lu Production, Hsinchu City-based LEI Dance Theater, and Seed Dance, the MOC said.

Both festivals are major platforms that draw audiences and industry professionals from around the world. Continued participation highlights Taiwan’s creative vitality while fostering deeper exchanges and collaboration with international partners, the ministry said. (POC-E)
