The Ministry of Education organized an event Aug. 30-31 in Bangkok to attract Thai students as part of government efforts to promote academic and industrial exchange.

Thirty-nine Taiwanese universities and 12 corporations participated in the education fair and job counseling event, the MOE said, adding that the academic institutions introduced programs, application procedures, scholarships and counseling services, while the companies gave on-site consultations on internship and career planning. Language proficiency testing information was also available.

According to the ministry, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand signed a memorandum of understanding with the Thailand Trade and Economic Office Taipei June 20 to expand collaboration on vocational education and internships.

In related developments, the Taiwan-Thailand International Talent Circulation Base was launched Aug. 29 in Bangkok to forward the MOE’s goal of facilitating rewarding experiences for international students and making Taiwan a desirable career destination. The ministry added that the base is expected to serve as a platform for academic exchange and global collaboration, and will offer preparatory Mandarin courses.

According to the MOE, Taiwan has become a major regional hub for cultivating young talent due to its diverse academic resources, international learning environment and engaged instructors. Of the more than 120,000 foreign students who came to the country in 2024, 5,000 hailed from Thailand, making it the sixth largest source of overseas learners. (POC-E)
