The Ministry of Education held the 2025 Industry-Academia Collaboration Workshop under the auspices of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Aug. 27-28 in Taipei City, underscoring government commitment to cultivating innovative personnel in the digital transformation era.
 
According to the MOE, the event was attended by 36 officials and education experts from 10 APEC member economies, as well as around 70 representatives from local tertiary institutions. Themed “Leveraging Digitalization for Talent Inclusion and Empowerment: Facilitating Economic Transitions by Academia-Industry Partnership,” the workshop included keynote speeches, a case-sharing session and group discussions.
 
Among the highlights was a speech by Tang Zhen-huan, vice president of the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, who detailed successful results from the university’s Industry Academia Innovation School in cultivating high-level digital personnel and bridging them to industries. Experts and representatives from Taiwan and countries including Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand shared academia-industry cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicle and smart manufacturing in their respective countries at the case-sharing session.
 
Group discussions centered on cross-domain digital personnel development, inclusive digital transformation and ways to sustain collaboration and regional growth, the MOE said, adding that foreign guests took the opportunity to visit Lunghwa University of Science and Technology in the northern city of Taoyuan, cultural institutions, innovation and personnel cultivation bases the next day.
 
Hsu Chen-pang, deputy director of the MOE's Department of Technological and Vocational Education, said that Taiwan is committed to cultivating personnel with innovative capabilities, digital literacy and inclusive vision through cross-ministerial cooperation and academia-industry links. He looked forward to continued work with other APEC member economies to expand collaboration networks in the region. (YCH-E)
