A delegation from Taiwan Medical Women’s Association attended the 33rd Medical Women’s International Association Triennial Congress Oct. 12-14 in Cairo, Egypt, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The day before the forum, TMWA hosted a Taiwan Night reception, inviting health professionals from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and the U.K. to enjoy fine food and music. During the subsequent three-day discussions, Taiwanese delegates exchanged views with their global counterparts on gender equality, medical innovation and public health, showcasing the expertise and commitment of Taiwan’s female doctors in clinical research, medical education and social responsibility, the MOFA said.
TMWA, an official member of the Medical Women’s International Association, previously hosted the 32nd triennial congress in June 2022 in Taipei City, attracting academics and experts from nearly 50 countries, the ministry added.
Praising TMWA for its active participation in global events and for raising Taiwan’s international visibility through cultural and medical diplomacy, the MOFA encouraged more civil groups to engage in international exchanges to highlight the country’s exceptional soft power. (POC-E)
