HomeUpdatesNet Zero City Expo kicks off in Taipei
The 2026 Net Zero City Expo kicked off March 17 in Taipei City to share Taiwan’s success in using its semiconductor and artificial intelligence prowess to drive digital and green transformation.

Underway through March 20, the annual expo is organized by the National Development Council and Taipei Computer Association under the supervision of the National Council for Sustainable Development.

NDC Minister Yeh Chun-hsien said at the event that smart technologies are the key to enhancing urban policymaking quality amid the dual challenges of addressing climate change and providing public services. He called AI important to optimizing governance efficiency, promoting carbon emission reduction and strengthening urban resilience.

Yeh said the government has proposed an action plan to reduce the country’s total carbon emissions in an effort to bring Taiwan’s practices more in line with global standards as it strives to capitalize on the opportunities arising from digital and net zero transformation.

The NDC set up the Net Zero Policy Pavilion at the expo to highlight 20 major projects to reduce carbon emissions, winners of the National Sustainable Development Awards and policy goals related to net-zero emissions.

According to the council, the event is being held in conjunction with the 2026 Smart City Summit and Expo and features 2,250 booths set up by seven ministries, 13 city and county governments, and 700 local firms to showcase their achievements. More than 3,000 participants from 174 cities in 53 countries are taking part in the expo, making this year’s edition the largest in history. (SFC-E)
