Premier Cho Jung-tai anticipated working with the Japanese government and private enterprises to forge a stronger democratic supply chain.

The Executive Yuan said that Cho made the remarks while receiving a delegation from the Yokohama City-based Japan Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry Feb. 4 in Taipei City. The group was led by Hung Yi-fen, head of the organization.

The premier said that Taiwan is fully committed to its Ten Major AI Infrastructure Projects to develop key technologies such as quantum technology, smart robots and unmanned vehicles. He added that the investment from Hsinchu City-headquartered Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. in Kumamoto prefecture would form an industry cluster in southern Japan that is expected to stimulate further bilateral collaboration on advanced technology.

Cho expressed appreciation for the attention that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has long paid to Taiwan. He said he hoped to continue advancing the two-way ties in cultural exchange and regional security.

In response, Hung spoke of Taiwan’s economic advancement, saying that its current per capita gross domestic product has exceeded that of Japan, boosting the confidence of overseas Taiwanese. She pledged to keep showcasing Taiwan’s diversity and strength to Japanese society. (POC-E)
