President Lai Ching-te praised Andrea Clare Bowman for her dedication to the partnership between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Taiwan, which benefits people of both countries.
 
Lai made the remarks while presenting the Vincentian ambassador with the Order of Brilliant Star with Special Grand Cordon Feb. 25 at the Presidential Office in Taipei City. The PO said prominent guests at the ceremony included Elroy Wilson, minister counsellor from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ambassador Robert Kennedy Lewis of St. Lucia, and former Ambassador Jasmine Elise Huggins of St. Kitts and Nevis.
 
The president noted that Bowman became her country’s first ambassador to Taiwan in 2019, laying a solid foundation for long-standing collaboration between the two countries.
 
Throughout Bowman’s tenure, Taiwan and St. Vincent and the Grenadines have deepened their relationship through exchanges in areas ranging from agriculture, culture, the economy, education, and information and communications technology to infrastructure, public health, sports, trade investment and women’s empowerment, Lai said.
 
The president also thanked Bowman for serving as the dean of the foreign diplomatic corps in Taiwan for more than three years, during which time she worked with the representatives and ambassadors of other nations and jointly promoted multiple projects with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
He further conveyed gratitude to St. Vincent and the Grenadines for unwavering support in various international contexts, including the International Civil Aviation Organization, the U.N. General Assembly and the World Health Organization.
 
In response, Bowman said she appreciated the MOFA’s facilitation of the Vincentian embassy’s exchange with all sectors of Taiwanese society, and concluded with an expression of gratitude for the unbroken bilateral bond of 45 years between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Taiwan. (POC-E)
