Lai made the remarks during the annual Hsieh Nien Fan banquet hosted in Taipei City by the American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan to thank the government for supporting the international business community.
According to the president, in addition to being a production hub of semiconductor chips and other critical components and parts, Taiwan is a trusted democratic partner, an active contributor to the global economy and a joint architect of supply chain resilience.
At the same time, Taiwan and the U.S. continue to expand their comprehensive strategic partnership, Lai said, adding that the bilateral trade relationship is at an all-time high.
The robust ties are reflected by a raft of positive developments, including the overwhelmingly optimistic sentiment expressed in AmCham Taiwan’s 2026 Business Climate Survey, the new investments by U.S. tech powerhouses, the sixth Taiwan-U.S. Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue and the conclusion of a bilateral investment memorandum of understanding, he added.
“Taiwan and the U.S. are more than just trade partners; we invest in each other, we innovate together, and we jointly maintain economic security,” Lai said, adding that these milestones show that cooperation is moving toward a steadier and more predictable institutionalized track.
The government will continue to optimize Taiwan’s investment environment, promote the new 10 major AI infrastructure projects and enhance Taiwan’s national defense and social resilience to ensure a robust foundation for local industry, the president said. (SFC-E)
