The 2024 Taiwan Circular Economy Week is underway in Taipei City, spotlighting government efforts to promote digital and green transformation to build a more sustainable and resilient Taiwan, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said Sept. 19.
Jointly organized by the MOEA, the Ministries of Agriculture, Environment and the Interior, and the Executive Yuan’s Public Construction Committee, the event kicks off a series of exhibitions, forums and workshops held in Taipei and the southern city of Kaohsiung through November. They will bring together academics, experts, officials and business representatives to discuss net-zero emission strategies and showcase the development of Taiwan’s circular economy.
During a joint news conference held Sept. 19 in the capital, several enterprises were invited to display relevant products resulting from public-private cooperation, the MOEA said, adding that entities included Chase Sustainability Technology, CPC Corp. Taiwan, King Ho Tai International Co., Mo Mo Sun International Co. and Yesiang Enterprise Co.
Vice Economic Minister Lien Ching-chang said at the news conference that digital and green transformation is key to the future competitiveness of Taiwan enterprises. This evolution must be complemented by circular economy measures to enhance the country’s industrial resilience and sustainable development, he added.
According to the MOEA, a circular economy innovation exhibition is set to be held by the MOEVN Sept. 25-28 at Taipei Main Station, with a case- and experience-sharing event to be staged Sept. 26 at the same location. These will be followed by an MOI-hosted workshop on construction material recycling Oct. 17 and the Taiwan Innotech Expo organized by the MOA, MOEA and MOENV Oct. 14-19 at Taipei World Trade Center, the ministry said.
Other highlights include the MOENV-supported Sustainable Taiwan Expo 2024 and Circular Economy Forum taking place Nov. 6-8 at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, as well as a seminar attended by the Taiwan Circular Economy 100, an alliance of firms seeking to embrace the waste-reducing development model, which will be held by the MOEA and the Industrial Technology Research Institute during the expo.
