A total of 19 individual artists and groups from Taiwan are to participate in upcoming European art festivals, showcasing performance and technology in creative arts, the Ministry of Culture said July 18.
With support from the MOC and the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany, five groups will perform in the Kunstfest Weimar in Germany during August and 14 artists and groups will take part in the Ars Electronica Festival 2025 in Austria in September, the ministry said.
According to the MOC, the Taiwan Fokus II program of the Kunstfest Weimar will feature Chen Wu-kang, Ivan Liu, Bulareyaung Dance Company, Riverbed Theatre and Formosa Circus Art, presenting performances spanning contemporary dance, virtual reality drama and Indigenous Bunun culture.
Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB) will participate in the Ars Electronica Festival 2025 with an exhibition titled “Polyphony,” showcasing work by both individuals and groups. The exhibition presents a diverse range of pieces, including artificial intelligence narratives, sensory technology interactions, sound experiments, and immersive environments.
During the press conference announcing the Taiwan lineups, Minister of Culture Li Yuan expressed gratitude to the participants for taking Taiwan culture and creativity to international platforms, further strengthening the country’s cultural identity for international audiences.
Participation in the two festivals demonstrates Taiwan’s elevated profile in Europe and is a result of the ministry’s long term engagement in international promotion of local creatives, the MOC said. The ministry added that it will continue to integrate resources to support Taiwan performers to develop international reputations and raise awareness of a unique Taiwan cultural identity on global platforms.
