Taiwan establishes interministerial alliance to enhance industrial chemical safety

UpdatesTaiwan establishes interministerial alliance to enhance industrial chemical safety

The Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Industrial Development Administration, the Ministry of Environment’s Chemicals Administration and Taipei City-based Chinese National Federation of Industries jointly launched an alliance to promote safe industrial chemical use July 28 in the capital.

Representatives from a total of 18 public associations joined the initiative, including Taipei-headquartered Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association and Taiwan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association as well as Taiwan Printed Circuit Association in Taoyuan City, the IDA said. The administration added that officials from the Ministry of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Ministry of the Interior’s National Fire Agency and the MOEA’s Bureau of Industrial Parks also witnessed the launch ceremony.

In his remarks, IDA Section Chief Wu Jhen-hua lauded the alliance as a meaningful commitment to collaboration. He added that government-formulated regulations alone are not enough to mitigate complicated and diverse industrial risk and that real industry resilience relies on companies to advance technical knowledge and autonomous management.

The MOEA encouraged cross-sector exchange to drive a transformation in industrial security culture and anticipated that more enterprises will join the alliance as it forges a safety-based sustainable development model. (POC-E)
