The governments of Eswatini, Taiwan and the U.S. collaborated to host a workshop through the Global Cooperation and Training Framework called “Digital Entrepreneurship for Youth and Micro-, Small-, and Medium-Sized Enterprises” March 11-12 in Ezulwini, Eswatini.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Ambassador Jeremy H.S. Liang of Taiwan; Deputy Chief of Mission Marc Weinstock of the U.S. ; and Eswatini’s Manqoba Khumalo, minister of commerce, industry and trade; delivered remarks at the opening ceremony, adding that Savannah Maziya, Eswatini’s minister of information, communications and technology, spoke at the closing of the event.
Liang noted that Taiwan has assisted the allied nation with upgrades to digital infrastructure in recent years and said he hoped that Taiwan’s experience would help Eswatini work toward the goal of becoming a digitalized country.
Around 150 academic, governmental and industrial representatives from Eswatini, Japan, Taiwan and the U.S., among others, participated in the workshop. The ministry said that Taiwanese businesses in attendance included New Taipei City-headquartered International Integrated Systems, Inc. and Taipei City-based iKala Interactive Media Inc.
Since its launch in June 2015 by Taiwan and the U.S., the GCTF has become a critical platform facilitating transnational exchange and contributing solutions to global issues. This workshop is the third time held in Eswatini, the MOFA said. (POC-E)
