Taiwan-France innovation, R&D cooperation program calls for entries

The Ministry of Economic Affairs launched the 2025 Taiwan-France innovation and R&D cooperation program June 9, highlighting the two sides’ commitment to strengthening technological ties.

Open through Oct. 30, the program calls for entries in key sectors including biotech, green energy, space, smart manufacturing and smart technologies like artificial intelligence and semiconductors. Under the program, Taiwan companies collaborating with French firms may apply for government funding offered by the ministry’s Industrial Development Administration and Department of Industrial Technology, while French participants will get loan support from Bpifrance, a French public investment bank.

According to the MOEA, approved projects can run for up to three years, and the Taiwan enterprises involved can receive up to 50 percent of their total budget. The program is expected to leverage Taiwan’s strong information and communications technology sector and comprehensive semiconductor supply chain, as well as France’s competitiveness in areas like AI, green infrastructure, materials and satellites.

The launch follows a bilateral memorandum of understanding facilitating cooperation on industrial R&D and innovation signed May 21, the MOEA said, adding that the government will work to combine the two sides’ strengths and coordinate funding for cutting-edge research, prototype development and product innovation to accelerate industrial cooperation and further boost domestic sectors.
