HomeUpdatesTaiwan, Indonesia expand agricultural collaboration
The Ministry of Agriculture and its Indonesian counterpart co-hosted a meeting on agricultural cooperation Aug. 28 in Taipei City, underscoring bilateral commitment to advancing partnerships with neighboring nations.

The event was jointly hosted by Hsiou Dong-chong, director general of MOA’s Department of International Affairs, and Ade Candradijaya, head of the Bureau of International Cooperation at Indonesia’s Ministry of Agriculture. Following in-depth discussions on market access and agricultural policies, the two sides have reached consensus on multiple projects including farmer exchanges, agritourism and disaster prevention technologies, the MOA said.

A particular focus of the dialogues was on challenges to food security brought about by climate change. The two parties have agreed to jointly ensure stable supplies and facilitate upgrades and sustainability transitions through regular exchange, the ministry added.

After the meeting, the MOA said that the Indonesian delegation took a two-day trip to Changhua County in central Taiwan and Yilan County in the northeast to gain insight into the internships held by Indonesian farmers in different parts of the country.

Indonesia is one of the countries featured in Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy, and the two countries have enjoyed the fruitful results of joint initiatives for talent cultivation and technical cooperation, the ministry said. (POC-E)
