The Ministry of Economic Affairs Industry Development Administration led 13 businesses to exhibit at the 2026 MWC underway through March 5 in Barcelona, Spain raising the profile of Taiwan’s information and communications technology sector and seeking to expand overseas markets.
 
A pavilion showcasing advanced Open RAN, artificial intelligence-powered automated management and ultra-high-speed internet was fielded by Chunghwa Telecom Co., the Industrial Technology Research Institute, and 11 other local enterprises, the IDA said.
 
A smart integrated sensing and communication platform developed by the ITRI, which detects moving trajectories on roadways through AI algorithms was on display representing next generation communication technology.
 
The IDA also held a networking event in collaboration with Chunghwa Telecom Co., for Taiwan enterprises to create market connections with overseas companies.
 
During the event, the IDA Internet communication industries office signed a memorandum of understanding with the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia to facilitate ties between Taiwan and European communication research agencies and industrial partners to expedite development of 6G technology.
