The Taiwan-Poland Smart City Forum and B2B Matchmaking Event took place March 18 in Taipei City to help local firms better understand the Central European market and expand their global presence.

According to Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, the event was organized by its Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration, with participants from around 130 businesses, research organizations and associations focusing on data applications, energy management, 5G telecommunication and smart security.

Polish participants included Michał Jaros, secretary of state of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, Jacek Karnowski, secretary of state of the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, and representatives from 8Foundry Alliance.

Bilateral exchanges have been on the rise since the SMESA and the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development concluded a memorandum of understanding in late 2025. The agency anticipated expansion of cooperation between the two sides in technology development and business matchmaking.

Held in conjunction with the 2026 Smart City Summit and Expo and Net Zero City Expo, the event featured an expert forum on topics such as artificial intelligence imaging recognition, big data analysis, Internet of Things in urban governance, smart ports, public security and smart logistics.

To showcase the Pomerania region’s complete industry ecosystem, representatives of Gdynia City, Gdańsk City, Gdynia Port, InvestGDA and Invest in Pomerania also engaged in active discussions with potential investors. (SFC-E)
