A delegation from the Ministry of Education attended the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Education Ministerial Meeting held May 13-15 in Jeju, South Korea, to share Taiwan’s success in promoting digital education and to deepen cross-border exchanges.
Themed “Bridging Educational Gaps and Promoting Sustainable Growth in the Era of Digital Transformation: Innovate, Connect, Prosper,” the event is the first such APEC meeting in nine years.
According to the MOE, the meeting featured three sessions on artificial intelligence, digital transformation and personalized education innovation; educational cooperation and expanding access to learning opportunities; and strengthening quality education and sustainable economic growth.
Led by MOE Chief Secretary Lin Po-chiao, the delegation detailed Taiwan’s policy measures on promoting digital education at the country’s elementary and junior high schools and exchanged views on related issues with their APEC counterparts.
The group also brought participants up to speed on the Taiwan Artificial Intelligence College Alliance, which was launched by the ministry in 2024 to prepare local students for the impact of rapid generative AI development.
Involving 25 colleges and universities in its initial stage, the initiative aims to enhance AI education through intercollegiate programs that integrate teaching resources, offer AI-related courses, provide expert mentorship, and streamline teaching assistant resources and course guidance services, the MOE said.
