The Taiwan Trade and Investment Service Center was inaugurated Aug. 14 in the U.S. city of Dallas to deepen bilateral trade and economic ties and expand supply chain cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the state of Texas is the second-largest economy in the U.S., with a strong presence in sectors including artificial intelligence servers, aviation, biomedicine, electric vehicles, energy and semiconductors, which are highly complementary to Taiwan’s industry development.
Many firms from Taiwan in these sectors have shown interest in expanding their U.S. presence to meet customers’ needs and respond to changes in global supply chains, the MOEA said. In pursuit of economic development collaboration, Economic Minister Kuo Jyh-huei concluded a letter of intent with Texas Gov. Greg Abbot in July 2024.
The ministry said Kuo also led a delegation to the state to visit key officials and business leaders in May this year, when the Dallas trade center was announced in response to Taiwanese firms’ call. After months of planning, the unveiling ceremony was held on the sidelines of the Taiwan Expo USA running Aug. 14-16 in the city.
The MOEA said the center will also serve as a liaison between Taiwan firms and government agencies and businesses in Dallas to promote industrial cooperation. It follows a similar office opened in December 2024 in Prague, Czechia, and another in Fukuoka, Japan, in April 2025. (SFC-E)
