A Ukrainian drone struck a passenger train in southern Russia, lightly injuring two people, a top regional official said.

Drone fragments fell on a train station in the city of Timashevsk early Friday, damaging a passing train, Krasnodar Region Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said on Telegram.

One of the victims was taken to a hospital, while the other refused hospitalization and was treated at the scene. Despite the attack, the train continued its journey, Kondratyev said.

Several homes were damaged in rural areas, the governor added.

Air raid alerts were issued across the coasts of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, the Northern Caucasus, and the Tambov region in western Russia, where airports were temporarily closed.

The previous night, Ukrainian drones attacked Sochi, a Black Sea resort that hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics, killing two railway employees.

Ukrainian agents have carried out multiple acts of sabotage against railways across Russia since 2022. Moscow said Kiev was behind the May bridge bombing in western Russia, which caused a train derailment that killed seven people.
