Ukrainian drones strike apartment blocks deep inside Russia (VIDEOS)

The attack took place in the Saratov Region on Monday

Ukrainian kamikaze drones have hit high-rise residential buildings in Russia’s Saratov Region, Governor Roman Busargin said in the early hours of Monday.

According to Busargin, the air defenses responded to the attack, but falling “drone fragments” hit houses in the cities of Saratov and Engels.

A video posted on Telegram shows the moment when the drone hit the 38-storey apartment block in Saratov, a city of 950,000 people in western Russia.

According to Telegram news channel SHOT, two people have been hospitalized with burns and shrapnel wounds. Busargin later confirmed that a woman has been hospitalized in critical condition.

Another UAV crashed into an apartment block in Engels, with the debris damaging parked cars.

A drone has also been shot down over the Bryansk Region, Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz said.

On August 6, Ukraine launched an incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region, overrunning dozens of villages and Sudzha, a border town with a pre-conflict population of 5,000. At least 31 civilians were killed and more than 140 were wounded during Ukraine’s offensive, according to Russian officials.

The heavy fighting continues in Kursk as Moscow has deployed additional forces to repel the invaders.
