Vice foreign minister receives Czech cultural delegation

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Remus Li-kuo Chen hosted a reception for Marek Hilšer, vice chairperson of the Czech Senate’s Committee on Social Policy, and members of the Prague-based Piccolo Coro & Piccola Orchestra July 1 in Taipei City.

Chen expressed his gratitude to Hilšer and the troupe for their contributions to bilateral cultural exchange. Taiwan and Czechia have increased cooperation across multiple fields in recent years, the vice minister said, mentioning reciprocal museum exhibitions such as the planned display of national treasures from the Taipei City-based National Palace Museum at the National Museum in Prague next year.

The vice minister also took the opportunity to praise David Steinke, head of the Czech Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, for his active advancement of the two-way exchange in art, culture, education, history and technology.

In response, Hilšer said that Taiwan and Czechia’s bond continues to grow stronger despite the geographical distance between them due to a shared deep respect for democracy and freedom. He concluded by encouraging both sides to continue their persistent efforts to expand the valuable relationship. (POC-E)
