The Ministry of Sports will celebrate winners of the 17th Sports Activist Awards Jan. 9 in Taipei City.
According to the MOS, a record 129 awards will be presented to 77 businesses and individuals for providing NT$5.9 billion (US$189 million) for athletic activities in 2025, a record high.
The MOS said seven firms won multiple awards this year: Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Power, Taiwan Cooperative Bank, First Commercial Bank, Cathay Life Insurance, Fubon Financial Holding and Land Bank of Taiwan. Their long-term support has helped Taiwan’s athletes achieve outstanding results in international competitions.
Twelve businesses will be honored for the first time, the ministry said, adding that the sponsorship reflects their commitment to social responsibilities and helps enhance their corporate visibility both at home and abroad.
The MOL also produced a short promotional film that features Sports Minister Lee Yang, retired doubles badminton player and gold medalist at both the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games, and boxer Chen Nien-chin, who won gold at the 2025 World Boxing Cup Finals and bronze at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
The complete three-minute version of the film will premiere at the award ceremony to pay tribute to the winners for their dedication and support, the ministry said. (SFC-E)
