China is now the most likely source of the virus, British lawmakers said today, as they tried to stop the leaking of Wuhan’s laboratory.
COVID-19 was genetically engineered in China, according to Harvard scientist Dr. Alina Chan, who testified before a House of Commons Science and Technology Committee.
He also said that the coverage of the Chinese Communist Party with the initial outbreak in Wuhan two years ago, as well as efforts to prevent the WHO’s investigation into the origins of the epidemic, had made the definition of a leaky lab reliable.
According to Tory Lord Lord Ridley, who co-authored a book on the origin of the virus and Dr. Chan, the fact that experts have not yet discovered the animal that could support natural origin despite a two-year investigation, supports the idea that COVID -19 has been released.
Recent findings from China’s attempts to hide have forced British and US intelligence agencies to carefully investigate the speculation of a laboratory leak, previously regarded as a conspiracy theory.
On the other hand, explosive cases are expected to put pressure on the UK government to question Beijing’s assertion that the virus originated in nature.
They are also expected to raise more questions about Chinese President Xi Jinping’s contact with the WHO, who was accused last year of issuing a white supremacy report.
Asked by the panel about the possibility of laboratory leaks as the source of the epidemic, Chan said “the origins of the lab are more likely than the natural origin at present”.
“We all agree that there was a catastrophic event at the Huanan Marine Market, which was the largest human-caused event. There is no evidence to suggest the animal origin of the virus in that market,” he noted.
Asked about his level of confidence that the world would eventually be able to find the real source of COVID-19, Chan said it was only a matter of time.
“At the moment it is not safe for people who know the origin of the epidemic to go public. It may be five years from now, it may be 50 years from now, but we live in a time when more information is being collected and stored. We need honest, systematic investigations,” he said. he.
“We now know that this virus has a unique feature, called the furin cleavage site which makes it a pandemic pathogen. So, without this feature, there is no way this could cause this pandemic.”
“Recently in September a proposal revealed that EcoHealth Alliance scientists were working with the Wuhan Institute of Virology to build this pipeline to incorporate furin cleavage, these genetic mutations, into viruses such as the SARS lab.” Said Chan.
