Russia’s Nord Stream: According to European leaders, the damage to the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines was caused by deliberate actions, but they withheld further information about the findings of any investigations.
Mette Frederiksen, the prime minister of Denmark, and Magdalena Andersson, the interim prime minister of Sweden, both indicated that they should not rule out sabotage.
Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, rejected any suggestion that the incident near Denmark could have been orchestrated by his administration.
He said that giving voice to these kinds of narratives is quite expected and predictably “stupid and ridiculous”.
Mr Peskov said it needed to be investigated, adding that it was unclear when the damaged pipeline would need to be repaired.
