India slams US for playing ‘vote-bank politics’ on International Ties

NEW Delhi: We cannot possibly take what we see as a common occurrence in the US on issues related to human rights and gun culture taking hundreds of lives, The Indian external ministry on Friday attacked Biden officials using international relations to engage in “banking politics”.

In a strong response to remarks by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and other officials on Thursday about “attacks on people in places of worship” in India, the center also appeared on the issue of gun violence – a hot topic in India. The US at the moment – says this has always been highlighted by Indian authorities in negotiations with the US and hate crimes such as racial and ethnic attacks.

Blinken on Thursday released a 2021 State Department report on International Religious Freedom. Speaking at the event, Biden said India is seeing an increase in attacks on places of worship. India is deeply saddened by the US ambassador’s statement on religious freedom by Rashad Hussain’s statement that Indian officials would ignore it if they did not support such an attack.
The MEA said in response it had seen the release of the report and “indirect comments from top US officials”.
“It is unfortunate that the politics of vote-making in international relations is being done.
The government did not specify what it meant for the voting bank policy but sources suggested that American officials probably wanted to express the feelings of other religious leaders in the US.

“As a humane society by nature, India values religious freedom and human rights. In our discussions with the US, we have always highlighted the issues of concern there, including racial and ethnic attacks, hate crimes and gun violence,” he added.
A recent annual report on international religious freedom alleges that attacks on members of minorities, including killings, beatings, and intimidation, occurred in India in 2021.
The report states that attacks on members of minority religions, including killings, beatings, and intimidation, occur throughout the year. “This includes cattle ranching incidents” against non-Hindus based on allegations of cattle slaughter or beef trade, “said part of an Indian report.

Blinken said in April, standing next to his colleague S Jaishankar in Washington, that the US was monitoring “cases” of human rights violations in India by government, police and prison officials. “We share a commitment to our democratic values, such as the protection of human rights. We regularly engage with our Indian counterparts on these shared values,” Blinken said.

The Indian government continues to maintain India with well-established democratic processes and strong institutions to protect the rights of all.
