South Korea Urges Neighbor North Korea, to forget the history and begin a new era of cooperation from this new Year 2022.
South Korea’s unity ministry on Monday called on North Korea to begin the new year with a series of talks and cooperation, as Pyongyang will convene an important meeting this week to discuss domestic and foreign policy issues.
North Korea has previously announced that the ruling Workers’ Party will hold a central committee meeting “in the last quarter of December” to “discuss and decide on new year’s plans,” the Yonhap News Agency reported.
“The meeting is usually held for one to four days with the presence of leader Kim Jong-un,” Unification Department spokesman Lee Jong-joo told reporters here.

The Seoul government is keeping an eye on the expected event regarding possible messages on Korean relations or nuclear talks, he said.
“We hope that North Korea will start the new year by opening doors for dialogue with the international community, and taking a step forward in negotiations and cooperation,” Lee said.
The remarks came as nuclear talks between North Korea and the US stalled since the collapse of the 2019 Hanoi summit.
Pyongyang remains unresponsive to negotiations, calling on Washington to repeal what it calls “double standards” and “hostile policy” against its regime.
