The Chinese Foreign Ministry has claimed that the United States has been sending balloons into Chinese airspace without obtaining prior approval from the Chinese authorities. During a briefing, the ministry’s spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, stated that these balloons have entered Chinese airspace more than 10 times since January 2022. This latest development has escalated the tensions between the two nations after an alleged Chinese surveillance craft was reportedly shot down over the United States.
Wang Wenbin called on the US to reconsider its actions and to reflect on its own behavior rather than blaming China. He emphasized that the balloons have been entering Chinese airspace illegally and that the US should respect China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Chinese Foreign Ministry also requested that the US stop these actions and refrain from further provocative behavior that could harm bilateral relations.
This incident highlights the ongoing tensions between the two nations and raises concerns about the potential for further conflicts and misunderstandings. As global powers, it is important for both China and the United States to work towards finding common ground and avoiding actions that could escalate tensions and lead to destabilization in the region and beyond.
