China builds mobile towers along LAC Indian Border, says LAHDC councillor

China has built three mobile towers along the Line of actual Control (LAC) in the Hot Springs area on its side.

Speaking on Twitter, Chushul local adviser in Ladakh, Konchok Stanzin, said the Chinese had set up three mobile towers in the Hot Spring area. Stanzin says 12 of the 12 districts in his district do not have a 4G network. Only one location provided 4G service.

He has been pushing for technological advancement, especially 4G towers in the vicinity of LAC. China has been working on various infrastructure projects on its side, including roads, bridges, and networks.

” They develop areas around them very quickly. Their neighborhoods have a street and telephone connections on their side. We are very concerned about these three new towers. It can be used for anything like caution though. I have raised these issues many times, ” said Konchok Stanzin, Councilor of Chhushul, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC).

Stanzin recently wrote a letter to Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. He has requested 4G internet service in 9 districts of his region near LAC.

Speaking to WION, he said the development of areas around the LAC was very important.

” We have started building roads in these areas, but much remains to be done. We need to resist the development of all these areas. If you look at the Chinese side, no one lives in those areas, but they have fully functional roads, mobile connections, and everything else. Although we live in our area without these resources. Our citizens live in these areas off the internet while they have 4G towers in uninhabited areas. That needs to be changed, to fully develop our side, ” said Konchok Stanzin.

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur also stressed the need for an optical fiber-based internet connection in all Ladakh districts.
