Alliance Air, Pilots on strike for a pay cut

NEW DELHI: Some Alliance Air pilots went on strike on Friday over pay issues, leading to the cancellation of some flights.

The government-owned company Alliance Air operates ATR aircraft.

According to its website, Alliance Air connects 48 destinations in India with 100 departures per day. Before COVID, the airline served 62 destinations.

The sources said some pilots have gone on strike to protest pay issues. One of the demands is to bring pilots’ salaries back to pre-COVID levels.

In the wake of the pandemic, wages have been cut by 60% and so far wages have not fully recovered, one of the sources said.

According to sources, management will soon discuss issues related to pilots’ salaries.

When contacted, an Alliance Air spokesperson said the airline would release a statement shortly.

The airline has 18 ATR 72-600 aircraft in service.
