New Delhi: India’s two major metropolitan areas, Delhi and Mumbai, have seen a drop in daily Covid19 cases for the past few days.
According to the Delhi Public Health Department on Friday (January 28), the national capital recorded 4,044 new Covid19 cases and 25 deaths in the past 24 hours. While the positivity rate fell slightly to 8.60 percent, the health department said.
Delhi’s Covid19 number rose to 17.64.41 and the death toll reached 25,769, according to the latest health bulletin today. Up to 8,042 people have recovered in the past 24 hours, while active infections stand at 29,152.
Daily cases in Delhi fell below the 10,000 mark in just 10 days. , While Mumbai recorded 1,312 new coronavirus infections and 10 deaths on Friday, the total in the country’s financial capital increased to 10,43,059 and the death toll to 16,591, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
Mumbai also saw the 10th consecutive day of decline in new infections. Mumbai’s Dharavi area, one of Asia’s biggest slums, recorded no new cases on Friday after a pause of more than a month.
However, Mumbai’s positivity rate rose to 4.47% from 3.32% the previous day. With 4,990 patients discharged in the last 24 hours, the number of recovered rose to 10.09.374. Mumbai currently has 14,344 active cases of Covid19.
