Deepak Tinu, an accused in the Sidhu Moosewala case, escaped from police custody

Chandigarh: Gangster Deepak Tinu, one of the accused in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, has escaped from police custody in Punjab’s Mansa district, official sources said on Sunday.
They said a search was launched for Tinu, who absconded on Saturday night when the Mansa police brought him on a production warrant from Goindwal Sahib jail in another case, they said.

Tinu is a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, also accused in the Punjabi singer murder case.

When asked about the incident, Inspector General, Bathinda Range, Mukhwinder Singh Chhina told PTI over the phone, “We are working on it, police parties are on the job and we will nab him soon.”

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29.

He was killed while on his way to Jawahar Ke village in Mansa in a jeep with his friend and cousin. His vehicle was stopped and six gunmen sprayed bullets at him.

After the killing, Goldy Brar, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the murder.

Tinu is among the 24 accused who have been charged in the murder case.
