Digital University will begin in India in July 2023, focused on skill development

The digital university will launch in July 2023 as part of the central government’s ambitious plan, and some of its courses will focus on skills development.

The concept of a digital university, which will start operations in July next year, has been the subject of much discussion of late, according to University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman M Jagadesh Kumar.

According to Kumar, there is a strategy to initially launch a growing number of skill development-based courses. The main objective is to provide skill-based training to the students and the courses should be job oriented.

According to the UGC President, using the Digital University for education will be quite simple for students. For example, if a course takes four years and a student can complete it in less time, “we will allow that student to complete the course in a shorter time frame,” he added.

Similarly, a student who wishes to complete a four-year course in five years will be able to do so through Digital Vishwavidyalaya.

Courses currently in progress will start soon. According to him, the UGC now allows students to get two degrees at a time and if a student gets one degree while enrolling in a college that offers multi-disciplinary education, he will be considered to have got two degrees.

All Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and Central Universities (CUs) will be affiliated as per the announcement of the UGC President on the Digital University Programme.

In addition, the Academic Loan Bank facility will be offered. The Academic Bank of Credit is a digital repository that will hold each student’s data.

In the last week of August, representatives of the University Grants Commission, All India Council for Technical Education, University of Delhi, and IIT Madras met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to discuss the creation of a digital university, the monthly report. a note on the Ministry of Education of the Union Cabinet.

A meeting was held. Presenting the Budget 2022-23, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said a digital university will be established to offer world-class universal education at the fingertips of students across the country.

It will be a university that will offer students online access to a range of courses and degree programs. It will collaborate with other national central universities on basic digital infrastructure and training.
