Farmers protest triggered against Punjab Government, blocked Chandigarh-Mohali passage

Scores of farmers in Punjab on Tuesday sat on strike near the Chandigarh-Mohali border after being barred from heading to the capital to push the Aam Aadmi Party-led government to meet various demands, including a wheat bonus and the start of planting paddy. from June 10.

Farmers who were seen coming with ration, beds, fans, coolers, utensils, LPG cylinders and more, said they would not leave until their demands were met.

CM Bhagwant Mann, who reportedly flew to Delhi and returned later in the day, called the riots “unreasonable and unpopular” and urged farmers to end their slogan and join the country’s government to see if the Punjab ends the water table.

A large police team has been deployed along the Chandigarh-Mohali border after a number of farmers’ groups recently issued an invitation for a permanent protest in the country’s capital over their demands. Mohali police have blocked barricades and tippers and even removed water rivals to prevent protesters from entering the Union area. Chandigarh police have also made similar arrangements to keep a check on smokers.

Our biggest need is to allow us to do paddy replacement from June 10 instead of June 18, ”said Jagjit Singh Dallewal, a farmer leader and president of the Bharti Kisan Union, said Jagjit Singh Dallewal.

The national government has divided the country into four paddy fields from June 18, 20, 22 and 24, respectively.

A few farmers say the prime minister on April 17 had a meeting with different clothes but the problems have not been resolved.

“The prime minister met with the farm authorities on April 17 …. But the issues we have raised have not been resolved,” said Kranti Kisan Union secretary general Gurmeet Singh Mehma.
