India Looks Forward to Working with Next US President, Jaishankar Says

India is preparing for the possibility of working with either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States, according to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Jaishankar stated that India’s relationship with the US is bipartisan and will continue regardless of who wins the presidential election.

Jaishankar acknowledged that the US election outcome is uncertain, but emphasized that India has a strong foundation of cooperation with the US that transcends party lines. He noted that India has worked successfully with both Republican and Democratic administrations in the past.

The minister’s comments come as the US presidential election heats up, with Trump seeking re-election and Harris emerging as a strong contender for the Democratic nomination. Jaishankar’s statement suggests that India is taking a pragmatic approach, preparing to work with whoever wins the election.

Jaishankar also highlighted the significance of the India-US relationship, citing cooperation in areas such as defense, trade, and technology. He emphasized that India’s ties with the US are driven by shared interests and values, rather than political affiliations.

The Indian government’s approach reflects its commitment to maintaining a strong and stable relationship with the US, regardless of the election outcome. By engaging with both Trump and Harris, India is positioning itself to continue its strategic partnership with the US, which is critical for its economic and security interests.
