Kalicharan Maharaj Sent To Judicial Custody Till January 13

Raipur: Hindu non-secular chief Kalicharan Maharaj, arrested over alleged derogatory feedback about Mahatma Gandhi, turned into on Friday despatched in judicial custody by way of a court docket in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur district.

The court sent him on judicial remand till January 13.

After his alleged feedback about the Mahatma went viral and drew large condemnation, Raipur police on Thursday apprehended Kalicharan Maharaj alias Abhijeet Dhananjay Saraag from close to Bageshwar Dham, approximately 25 km from Khajuraho town in Madhya Pradesh.

Before that, on Sunday, an FIR become registered in opposition to him at Tikrapara police station here underneath IPC sections 505 (2) (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred, or ill-will among training) and 294 (obscene acts). Later, police brought section 124 A (sedition) too.


His arrest had brought about a row among the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh and the Congress authorities in Chhattisgarh. The MP government claimed that its police were no longer intimated about the movement.

On Sunday evening, at the stop of a two-day ‘dharma sansad’ (religion parliament) held in Raipur, Kalicharan Maharaj had allegedly used abusive phrases in opposition to Mahatma Gandhi.
