The MEA (Ministry of External Affairs) announced a statement on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) comments made as “encouraging, misleading, and cruel” action against India. MEA official spokesman Arindam Bagchi while responding to media inquiries about the OIC Secretary-General’s statement said the Indian government had completely rejected the OIC Secretary-General’s comment.
BJP has already suspended Ex spokesperson Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal from primary membership. On the other hand, Nupur Sharma received death threats from several organizations and people over her comments on Prophet Mohammad.
MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi stated that “We have seen a statement on India from the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Indian government is utterly rejecting the OIC Secretary’s unwarranted and narrow-minded remarks. The Indian government has great respect for all religions.
“Tweets and comments that demean religious people are made by individuals. They do not reflect, in any way, the views of the Government of India. Serious action has been taken against these people by the relevant authorities, ”the statement by MEA further added.
“It is unfortunate that the OIC Secretariat has also chosen to comment in such an encouraging, misleading, and cruel manner. This only reflects its divisive system which operates according to the requirements concerned. We urge the OIC Secretary-General to refrain from pursuing its public service and to show due respect for all religions and denominations. ”
