Muhammad Zubair gets Interim Bail by Supreme Court in all cases, terror provocative minds

Alt News Co-Founder Muhammad Zubair receives Interim Bail by Supreme Court in all six cases registered against him in Uttar Pradesh. The court ordered all six cases to be transferred to Delhi. He eventually gets out of jail.

A bench of DY Chandrachud and AS Bopanna heard a plea filed by Zubair seeking quashing of five FIRs registered against him for allegedly inciting religious sentiments. Zubaira will produce bail bonds of Rs 20,000 to be submitted to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at Patiala House in Delhi. The court directed the Tihar jail to release Zubair by 6 pm today.

“We direct Zubair to be granted bail on each of the FIRs in Uttar Pradesh. The existence of the power of arrest must be distinguished from the exercise of the power of arrest, which must be exercised sparingly,” the apex court said.

After handing over the cases to Delhi, the court found the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the Uttar Pradesh government to be redundant and hence disbanded. “The transfer of FIRs will apply to all existing FIRs and to all future FIRs that may be registered on the same subject,” the court said.

The court also dismissed the Uttar Pradesh government’s plea to prevent Zubair from tweeting in future, saying the court could not prevent citizens from using his voice. “How can a journalist be prevented from tweeting and writing? If he violates any law by tweeting, then he can be dealt with according to law,” the court said.

A total of seven FIRs have been registered against Zubair in UP – two in Hathras and one each in Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad and Chandauli police station.

On of his tweet, he said that before 2014 hotel was named as honeymoon Hotel after 2014 it became Hanuman Hotel. This move him outraged or angered the Hindus cause comparing Hanuman Ji with honeymoon is equivalent to insulting Hanuman Ji as he is recognized as Brahmachari.
