The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit has flagged a viral video being falsely linked to the ongoing India–Pakistan situation. The video, widely circulated across social media platforms, allegedly shows a recent crash of an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft as part of the current regional developments.
In a post on X, PIB Fact Check clarified that the video is neither recent nor related to the present scenario.
“This footage actually shows a Jaguar aircraft of the Indian Air Force that crashed in Ambala during a routine training exercise,” the agency said, adding that the incident occurred earlier and holds no connection to any recent conflict.
The Fact Check unit urged the public to avoid sharing unverified videos that may contribute to misinformation and panic. It reiterated the importance of relying on official sources for accurate updates and cautioned that such disinformation campaigns may be part of attempts to incite fear and confusion.
