MUMBAI: Superstar Rajinikanth will be teaming up with filmmaker Nelson for his next project, tentatively titled ‘Thalaivar169’, the filmmakers announced Thursday.
The project marks the first collaboration between the 71-year-old star and Nelson, who is known for films including Tamil comedy ‘Doctor’ and upcoming action thriller ‘Beast’ starring Vijay.
The official Twitter account of Sun Pictures, the production company behind the film, shared a one-minute video announcing the project, featuring Rajinikanth, Nelson, and music composer Anirudh.
“Introducing #Thalaivar169 by superstar @rajinikanth, directed by @Nelsondilpkumar and music by @anirudhofficial,” it said on Twitter.
Nelson wrote that he was delighted to be working with Rajinikanth on the film.
“Excited to announce my next film with legendary superstar @rajinikanth sir, happy to team up again with @sunpictures and my dear friend @anirudhofficial! #respect #humiliated #thalaivar169,” the filmmaker tweeted. Rajinikanth was last seen in the 2021 action film Annaatthe directed by Siva.
