Shraddha Murder Case: Delhi Saket court extends Aaftab Poonawala’s custody for 14 days

A Saket court has extended the judicial custody of Aaftab Amin Poonawala by 14 days, officials said on Friday.

Aaftab is the main accused in the Shraddha Walker murder case.

He was produced in court today via video conference.

Aaftab Amin Poonawalla, accused of killing his live-in partner Shraddha Walker, currently lodged in Tihar jail, was produced before the Saket court here through video conferencing, jail officials said.

The 28-year-old man, who dismembered Shraddha’s body and kept the chopped body parts in a fridge before disposing of them in south Delhi’s Chhatarpur forests, is currently in judicial custody.

The Delhi Police has sought an extension of judicial custody and said the investigation into the case is on.

According to prison authorities, Aaftab spends his time devising chess moves, often alone and occasionally clashing with two fellow inmates.

One of the investigators of the case even said that Aaftab is very smart and a “new twist” can be expected in the case.

According to sources, Aaftab shares his jail cell with two other inmates who often play chess in the cell.

Aaftab is accused of strangling his live-in partner Shraddha and chopping her body into 35 pieces. He also allegedly kept the chopped body parts in a refrigerator before dumping them in forested areas in Delhi and Gurugram.

Police had earlier said that Aaftab, who confessed to killing Shraddha and cutting her body into 35 pieces, was giving misleading answers to questions.

Delhi Police told the court that Aaftab was giving wrong information and setting up the investigation.
