4 May: In a major breakthrough, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) killed dreaded gangster Anil Dujana in an encounter in Meerut district on Thursday. Dujana was wanted in several cases of murder, extortion, robbery and land grabbing in Gautam Buddha Nagar and other districts.
According to sources, the UP STF received a tip-off about Dujana’s movement in Meerut and laid a trap to nab him. When the STF team tried to intercept him, he opened fire and tried to escape. The STF team retaliated and shot him dead.
Dujana was a resident of Dujana village under Badalpur police station in Gautam Buddha Nagar district. He had a bounty of Rs 2.5 lakh on his head. He was also involved in a land dispute with former BJP MLA Nawab Singh Nagar and his son.
Dujana was considered to be close to former BSP MP Surendra Nagar and had allegedly helped him win elections. He had also contested the 2017 assembly elections from Jewar constituency as an independent candidate but lost.
