New Delhi: WhatsApp has released a new extension to add extra security to its web app. According to a report by GSM Arena, the extension is called Code Verify and is designed solely to ensure the security of the web version of the instant messaging app.
Enough, and the end-to-end encryption was not compromised. The meta platform said that the web application is naturally less resistant to attacks. Code Verify guarantees the same level of security as a native application on Windows, iOS, or Android.
WhatsApp said in a blog post that Code Verify “works in partnership with Cloudflare, a web infrastructure and security company, to provide transparent, independent, third-party verification of the code you receive on WhatsApp Web. Peace of mind for users.
“No other end-to-end encrypted messaging service offers this level of security for people’s communications on the Internet. In addition to implementing Code Verify for WhatsApp Web, it is also offered as open-source so that other services can also use it.
Below is an overview of how Code Verify works, how to use it, and the value of opening it,” WhatsApp added in the blog post.
