Etihad Airways To Start Direct Flights Between Kolkata-Abu Dhabi From Sunday

Kolkata: Etihad Airways will resume flights between Kolkata and Abu Dhabi on Sunday, the airlines said.

The flights, which will be available daily, will be operated by Airbus A320 aircraft, which will offer eight seats in business class and 150 in economy class.

With the recommencement of flights to Kolkata, Etihad will now fly to 14 destinations across the region – India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, she added.

The aircraft will depart from Abu Dhabi at 21:10 local time and will land in Kolkata at 3:30. It will take off from Kolkata at 4.35am and arrive in the UAE capital at 8.15am local time.

“Our return to Calcutta comes at the same time as our twice-daily service to New York, providing better access between India and the United States via Abu Dhabi, where our guests can use our US preclearance for a seamless arrival in the States,” said Martin Drew, Etihad’s senior vice president of global sales and cargo.

Last week, low-cost airline Air Arabia launched its flights between Kolkata and Abu Dhabi three days a week. It also operates the Airbus A320.

Etihad Airways has suspended its services between Kolkata and Abu Dhabi following the outbreak of COVID-19. Kolkata has direct flights to two other West Asian destinations, Dubai and Doha.
