Government tightens its back on 5G, know the complete plan from launch to rollout

New Delhi: The central government does not want any delay regarding 5G connectivity. For this, the government has planned to roll out 5G connectivity in fast track mode.

The government wants to roll out 5G in the country on time. In view of this, a time frame has been made.

The government has given the first two weeks of July to complete the upcoming 5G auction process. Discussions are going on between the stakeholders and government officials regarding this.

When will 5G connectivity be available?

There is a possibility that a proposal regarding the base price will be given by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) by March, after which it will have to be approved by the cabinet.

After this 5G connectivity can be rolled out in India. Also, a large-scale commercial 5G rollout will be completed only in the second quarter (April-June) of the year 2023.

Demand to fix base price soon

The target of completing the auction by the first quarter of 2022 was fixed by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). But now it has been changed.

Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the auction will be completed by April-May. There was a demand from DoT to fix the base price for 5G millimeter bands. So that 3500 bands can be fixed.

Telecom companies had expressed concern about the high base price proposed by TRAI.

India is far behind in terms of 5G

According to telecom companies, 5G rollout in India is possible only in the year 2023. India is far behind in terms of rolling out 5G compared to other countries.

At present, 5G service is available in about 67 countries. Reliance Jio is the only company capable of providing a standalone 5G network. In which low latency and high-speed internet connectivity will be available.
