New Delhi: India successfully tested a naval variant of the advanced supersonic cruise missile BrahMos from a stealth-guided missile destroyer of the Indian Navy on Tuesday.
The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) said the missile hit the intended target “with precision”. “The advanced sea-to-sea variant of the supersonic cruise missile BrahMos was tested by INS Visakhapatnam today.
The missile hit the specified target ship with precision,” tweeted the DRDO. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said the successful launch of the missile confirmed the robustness of the Indian Navy’s “operational readiness”.
“The robustness of @indiannavy’s mission readiness is confirmed again today after the successful launch of the advanced version of the BrahMos missile from INS Vishakhapatnam.
BrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture between India and Russia, produces supersonic cruise missiles that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or land platforms. The BrahMos rocket flies at a speed of Mach 2.8, or almost three times the speed of sound.
